About Me
Following on from a career in the City, my path led me to pursue my passion and calling to help others, and I embarked on my professional counselling training into the inner world of the human psyche.
I trained at the Inter-Psyche Training Institute in Kent. Based within the NHS, it trains students to BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited diploma standard. Following on from my Certificate in Counselling Skills, I obtained my post-graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling awarded with Distinction.
I value individuality, difference and diversity, and demonstrate equality and inclusion for all my clients, working cross-culturally with a diverse range of clients spanning all ages, cultures, religions, ethnicities and sexualities. I believe the therapeutic relationship is paramount in counselling and I provide a secure, supportive, non-judgmental environment that is both accepting and empowering. From here you can explore and express your thoughts and feelings in confidence. I walk alongside you on your journey offering support, empathy, and encouragement, and from time to time, guidance and appropriate gentle challenging.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and have professional liability insurance and a DBS (The Disclosure and Barring Service) Enhanced Certificate. As an accredited member of BACP, I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework that includes regular supervision of my practice to ensure I am working as effectively, safely and ethically as possible. In addition, I engage in regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and I am fully committed to enhancing my personal skills and proficiency.
I have worked as an IAPT counsellor providing short-term counselling to clients accessing the national Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme; MIND, providing short-term and open-ended counselling to clients presenting a range of problems including depression, anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, stress, loss and bereavement, work and relationship issues; Place2Be, providing counselling through talking, creative work and play with school children offering support to cope with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
I maintain a healthy work-life balance and regularly monitor my psychological and physical health, recognising my own wellbeing is essential to sustaining a good counselling practice. When I’m not counselling, I enjoy yoga, cycling, stand up paddle boarding, nature walks and Cyprus, where I can be found absorbing the energy from the sun, recharging my batteries as often as I can.
Don’t let your problems leave you feeling isolated any longer. Get in touch with me today and together we can turn your life around.
